Project goals
The main goal of the project “Teach and Learn with Georgia” is to recruit 1,000 foreign native speakers who will be willing to help Georgian schoolchildren to learn foreign languages (English, German and French) for the years of 2010-2011. As we strive towards globalization and acknowledge the advantages of the new technology, we still consider that human factor and people-to-people communication is irreplaceable and has far more tangible or intangible benefits than any other means. That is why “Teach and Learn with Georgia” is so important for a small country of Georgia that has exceptional customs and traditions and is willing to share it with the rest of the world though person-to-person communication.
These people who will be willing to volunteer to arrive to Georgia will find themselves in an amazing country, which is one of the ancient countries in the world, and hospitable Georgian people, who will share their rich traditions with their guests. Volunteer teachers will stay in Georgia for at least one year with once in a life-time opportunity, such as - learning the Georgian language, with one of the 14 existing ancient alphabets in the world; getting familiarized with amazing Georgian customs and traditions by living in the local families; experiencing unique Georgian folklore and cuisine by socializing with local communities.
Tours to the spectacular Georgian sights will be available for the ones who like history, culture and old civilization; those who like sea sides and sun can enjoy beaches of the Black Sea in summer and those who like skiing - can enjoy the winter resorts of the Georgian mountains. These different social activities will contribute a lot to the teaching and learning process, with an ultimate goal of making a difference in Georgia.
The exchange of information, experiences and cultures will create important ties between the Georgian and other peoples from different parts of the world. This initiative will significantly improve foreign language proficiency in Georgia and give the volunteer teachers advantageous benefits for their future careers.
